About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Child and Family Mental Health Practitioner in our Child and Family Services division. They will provide early intervention and non-clinical community Mental Health support for children and young people, aged up to 18 years, who are showing signs of, or are at risk of, developing mental illness. This role works within the Commonwealth funded Family Mental Health Support Services program.
About You
Seeking an intrinsically motivated person with a vested interest in working with children and young people. This position has direct contact with children and young people delivering individual therapeutic support, small and larger group work and community education. You will be part of a broader Child and Family focussed team & contribute to building a child safe culture in practice & across the organsiation. NB The position requires sound experience in a similarly broad generalist role.
The CFSS sector is a constantly changing environment so you must also enjoy working under pressure and be able to prioritise work to maximum efficiency.
You will have:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Social Science or equivalent e.g. Counselling, Psychology, Wellbeing
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge of Child and Family-centred practice, child development and Mental Health, particularly that of vulnerable families and children from backgrounds of trauma and/or disadvantage.
- Strong organisational and time management skills, the ability to multitask and maintain meticulous attention to detail.
- High level of communication skills, literacy, and well-developed writing skills.
- Strong computer literacy and proficiency in the use of the Microsoft Office suite of programs.

Location
UCWB office is based at Bowden, just a short walk to the popular Plant 3 and Plant 4 entertainment complex in Gibson Street. However, the role encompasses significant work off-site in respective funded LGA’s including delivery in early years centres, primary and or secondary schools & community centres
