Accountant

This is a great opportunity for an experienced accountant to join a large Not-for-Profit organisation.

Your new company 

I am looking for an Accountant to join a large Not for Profit organisation that makes a real difference to the community in the Northern Territory. 

Your new role 

In this role you will be utilising an ERP to reconcile, report, analyse, and interpret financial data in a subunit of the Finance Department.

You will be responsible for the following

• Review and maintain General Ledger accounts.
• Complete timely and accurate reconciliations.
• Meet internal and statutory reporting deadlines and lodgement dates.
• Ensure internal controls, and checklists are followed.
• Oversee coding of purchase orders and credit card transactions.
• Assist relevant managers with budget development and provide ongoing analysis.
• Ensure fixed assets are correctly approved, obtained, disposed of, depreciated, and reconciled.
• Undertake internal audits and escalate findings to the line manager.
• Provide support to external auditors including preparation of interim and annual audit files.
• Mentor and develop Finance Officers who report to this position.
• Be a champion of the organisation's values and demonstrate a commitment to work health and safety.

What you'll need to succeed 

Ideally, you will have:

• Experience as an Assistant Accountant or Accountant within an Enterprise Resource Planning software environment.
• Experience preparing and lodging BAS and IAS.
• Highly effective interpersonal skills, including proficient written and oral communication skills that can be adapted to meet the needs of people of all education levels, language abilities, and ethnic origin.
• The capacity to link daily activities to the organisation’s values and mission.
• Unlimited work rights for a minimum of four years in the Northern Territory
