With 20 outside school hours care (OSHC) services, we focus on providing children with places of belonging, where everyone feels safe, and where our program of play-based experiences and recreational activities is wonderfully rich and diverse. We also have a Communities team that runs various Early Years programmes via government funding.
Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Accountant to join our team based at the Bracken Ridge office (there is some flexibility to work from home). The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing financial records, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. The Accountant will work closely with other departments to ensure accurate financial reporting and provide support for budgeting and forecasting.
Responsibilities:
- Manage financial records and ensure accuracy of financial transactions
- Prepare financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities
- Analyse financial data and provide insights to management
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate financial reporting
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
- Reconcile bank statements and other financial records
- Assist with tax preparation and filing (quarterly BAS and annual FBT returns)
- Preparation of balance sheet reconciliations
- Preparation of quarterly and six-monthly grant acquittals
- Assist with preparation for annual external audit process
- Complete ad hoc projects/reports as requested by Financial Controller
- Submission of quarterly portable LSL return
- Other ad hoc accounting duties to support the broader Finance team
- Provide back-up support and/or assistance to other Finance team members as required, particularly when continuity of service delivery is compromised.
Qualifications:
Mandatory
- Tertiary degree in Accountancy or Finance, Management, Financial Management or equivalent as accepted by Jabiru
- CPA or CA qualified
- 5+ years’ experience in a similar role
- Advanced level skills in Excel and proficient across a range of MS suite platforms and other reporting systems and tools
- Commercial and business awareness
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to improve processes
- Working with Children Check

- Experience in Not-for-profit sector
