Accountant/Payroll Officer

Nowra Christian School is a growing Christian K-12 learning community of over 520 students, situated on the beautiful NSW South Coast. For over 44 years, we have continued to offer an excellent Christian schooling experience for those who live in the Shoalhaven region. We are currently inviting applications from committed Christians of protestant persuasion who are active in their local church, to join our school as an:
Accountant/Payroll Officer

• Assist the Business Manager in all aspects of managing the school’s day-to-day finance operations and payroll functions.
• This role may suit a graduate accountant, payroll officer, bookkeeper or a person with a minimum 3-5 years full-time equivalent experience in a face-paced environment
• Monday – Friday (8am-4pm), will be required to work some of the school holidays
• Supportive and collaborative work environment

The successful applicant will:

• Has a strong Christian faith and is an active member of a local Protestant church
• Has strong verbal and written communication skills as well as an excellent attention to detail
• Works effectively both independently and as a team member
• Demonstrates ability to multi-task, be highly organised and work well in a fast- paced environment
• Demonstrates strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong knowledge of payroll regulations, PAYG tax laws and compliance requirements
• Has strong computer skills and is proficient using Microsoft Office and Google Suite

Desirable qualifications and experience

• Holds an Australian Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
• Has 3-5 years experience in payroll processing within a similar school environment
• Experience with accounting software like Xero, MYOB, PCSchools, TASS etc

Mandatory requirements

• Reference from current church minister
• Completion of the school’s application form
• Current NSW Working With Children Check approval number
