THE OPPORTUNITY
The company has an opportunity for an Accounting Supervisor within our Perth based Finance team, with monthly site visits to our Mt Cattlin mine.
We are seeking a motivated and experienced individual, passionate about applied leadership & sound decision making, team development, operational rigour, and excellence.
The role is available on a standard working week, Monday - Friday in our Applecross offices, and compensating with time off in lieu for additional hours required for the days when on site.
Reporting to the Australia Finance Manager, you will play a key role in driving success by leading the accounting functions for the corporate entities and the Mt Cattlin mine. Site visits will add value to meeting month-end reporting requirements.
Mt Cattlin provides a very pleasant work location near the south coast of WA, and the region with the nearby towns of Ravensthorpe and Hopetoun, offer an inviting combination of rural and coastal lifestyle.
YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES IN BRIEF
Site accounting - Mt Cattlin
- Undertake month end process for the Mt Cattlin site, including accurate recording of physicals and costs.
- Monthly financial and physical reporting of Mt Cattlin results and operations to management.
Overall Management of the Accounting
- Prepare the monthly closing schedule and communicate the plan with the business stakeholders.
- Maintain the checklist of the monthly closing activities for Mt Cattlin, ensure the timely month end closing.
- Prepare or review the Balance sheet reconciliations, ensure high quality of the closing.
- Maintain, monitor and improve internal control process, ensure SOX compliance.
Seniority level with the Finance team, supervision and timely coordination of support with outstanding tasks
ROLE REQUIREMENTS
- Preference will be given to candidates with the Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA) designation.
- 8 years plus experience in accounting within either a medium/large corporate – mining industry is preferred.
- In-depth technical knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards and Corporations Act regulations.
- Experience with SAP4Hana
- Willingness to travel to Mt Cattlin site for 1 week during each month end
- Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills
- Very strong attention to details, problem solving and analytical skills
- Strong ability to quickly adapt to any expected and/or unexpected change within the working environment
- Resilient and confident multi-tasker who can handle multiple priorities.
As our preferred candidate you will be required to participate in a verification process which will include:
- provision of a recent National Police Clearance
- pre-employment medical (including drug and alcohol testing)
- proof of the right to work in Australia
- probation period of 6 months
- minimum of 2 reference checks from recent employers
