The opportunity
Reporting to the Clinical Lead – Physical Rehabilitation & Wellbeing Services this full-time position will be responsible for providing evidence-based treatments and exercise physiology services to veterans and their families, helping to improve physical and mental wellbeing, providing management techniques and treatment to injuries and chronic pain, and working to design and develop clinical programs for clients to undertake. Conducting intake activities for clients, including undertaking pre-exercise screenings to gauge physical obstacles and mobility.

You will work with a progressive and motivated team in a supportive environment to fulfill responsibilities including:

  • Conducting intake activities for clients, including undertaking pre-exercise screenings to gauge physical obstacles and mobility.
  • Working closely with the Clinical Lead – Physical Rehabilitation & Wellbeing Services to design, evaluate and implement tailored evidence-based exercise programs for clients to support positive outcomes based on the scope of your qualifications.
  • Taking a lead role in coordinating communications with the relevant referral agencies or clinicians, including referrals for clinical interventions where needed.
  • Providing diligent supervision of gym facilities, including observing client use of facilities, technique correction, keeping equipment clean, tidy, and well-maintained, and being available for client inquiries or assistance related to physical exercise and the equipment.
  • Acting as a subject matter expert to provide health, physical activity and exercise education, advice and support, in both individual and group settings.
  • Designing and delivering exercise sessions developed for participation by a group of clients with a mix of ages and fitness levels, including instructing and demonstrating in a group setting, with oversight and guidance from the Clinical Lead – Physical Rehabilitation & Wellbeing Services
  • Maintaining currency of contemporary practices within professional field to support delivery of relevant physical wellbeing services.
This is a permanent, full-time opportunity, based at our new Veteran Family Wellbeing Centre at Stafford. 

About you

We are seeking someone who is passionate about providing support for a range of physical health and mobility concerns while working closely with community members. 

Holding a relevant tertiary qualification in Clinical Exercise physiology as well as full registration with ESSA, the successful applicant will have strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with both clients and colleagues, and well-developed oral and written communication skills to benefit client support and management.

Candidates with the following skills and experience are encouraged to apply:

  • Experience in working with clients with musculoskeletal conditions, mental health concerns, and management of chronic disease and pain.
  • Developed computer proficiency, including a demonstrated ability to use client information management systems for accountability and proficient record keeping.
  • Current driver’s license, First Aid and CPR certification, Working with Children Check valid for your State or Territory and Ochre Card (or eligibility to obtain).
  • The ability to work and communicate professionally and respectfully within a multidisciplinary team, while also thriving in an independent work environment where necessary.
While not a requirement, direct experience in delivering services to current or ex-serving Defence personnel and their families is also advantageous for this role.
