About the Role:
The Exercise Physiologist will have the following responsibilities:
- Deliver core exercise and movement services to a broad range of mental health presentations.
- Facilitate various group therapy interventions with both inpatients and day patients at the hospital.
- Utilize effective communication skills to optimise clinical outcomes and work collaboratively with clients.
- Work collaboratively with team members including other Mental Health Clinicians, Nursing Staff, and Psychiatrists.

Essential Criteria and Qualifications:
- Formal qualifications in Exercise Physiology and accreditation as an Exercise Physiologist with Exercise and Sports Science Australia.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience as an Exercise Physiologist in mental health (may include post-graduate training).
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience in working collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team environment.
- Flexible availability including evenings and weekends.
- Experience in providing group sessions and working with clients with complex needs.
- Immunisation evidence (including COVID vaccination) and serology report.
- Ability to take initiative and work autonomously within a team.
- Be adaptive, flexible, and self-motivated in your approach.
- All employees are required to complete and maintain their mandatory education and competencies in accordance with Currumbin Clinic policies and procedures.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Experience working with clients presenting with severe and persistent mental health issues and complex needs.
- Experience working in a hospital setting.
- Experience in the provision of exercise physiology with adults in an addictions service.
Vaccination Preventable Disease
It is a condition of employment for this role for the employee to be, and remain, vaccinated against the following vaccine preventable diseases during their employment:
- COVID-19 (double vaccinated)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR)
- Varicella (chicken pox)
- Pertussis (whooping cough), Diphtheria and Tetanus
- Hepatitis B
You must be able to provide serology evidence and a VPD form for the above-mentioned vaccinations and will be asked by the recruiting manager to supply this evidence if you are the preferred candidate for the role. Please note you are not susceptible to the VPD's listed in the role description.
