Active Directory Specialist / Senior Systems Engineer

Active Directory Expert with both on-prem and Azure AD experience, Exchange and SharePoint experience highly desirable.Job Title: Active Directory Specialist (Senior Systems Engineer)Contract: Initial contract through 31 Dec 2024 with possible extensions, competitive daily rate on offer.Job SummaryOur client is a QLD State Government agency. Their Information and Technology Directorate is hiring a Senior Systems Engineer/Active Directory Specialist.This role will be working with the Project Manager, Agile Practices Lead, Project Team Members, Executive Director Information and Technology Directorate, relevant business units and their information technology partners and suppliers. The IT Directorate has implemented Agile ways of working, with project and service delivery teams commencing their Agile journeys. Working closely with the Agile Practices Lead, the Iteration Manager will assist and guide teams to embed agile ways of working and continuous improvement practices within their teams.Our client is currently in the process of establishing new Active Directory domain followed by transitioning the existing users, objects, and applications from the old domain to the new domain.Key Responsibilities

• Work closely with the transition team current service provider and our suppliers to de-risk the existing Active Directory domain.
• Contribute to the successful planning and execution of the transition from the existing AD domain to the new AD domain.
• Participate in and contribute to the impact analysis workshops with stakeholder in order to plan a seamless transition to the new Active Directory domain without disrupting business operation.
• Review current Active Directory Objects and perform the required remediation and uplifting activities to remove staled objects and reduce the size of the directory database.
• Perform a review of the DNS services and current zone setups and identify the zones that can be safely removed and excluded from the transition.
• Review and document existing Group Policy Objects (GPOs) configured and work with the transition team to identify the polices that need to be transition and the policies that can be excluded from the
• Participate in other Active Directory and System related to the transition activities as my required or may have dependencies on services such as Active Directory, PKI, Azure AD, DNS, DHCP, etc.
• Performing day to day management of Active Directory and related/dependent services until the service is transitioned to the new service provider.
• Identify and solve business problems within the scope of Identity and Access

Requirements

• Extensive experience in managing and maintaining Active Directory domains, including depending on services like DNS.
• Extensive experience in managing and maintaining Azure AD environment with Azure AD Connector deployed on-prem.
• Solid understanding of Active Directory components, structures and related Microsoft best
• Experience in partnering with stakeholders across different
• Solid understanding of authentication protocols and Identity and Access Management (IAM).
• Experience with other Microsoft technologies, including Exchange, SharePoint, Server and Microsoft 365.
• Hands on experience with Microsoft PowerShell and its Active Directory and Azure AD Cmdlets.
• Substantial in solving complicated identity related problems and
• Strong technical experience identifying change impacts on users, services, applications, systems, and
• Experience in business and service transformation process and
• Excellent communication and relationship building skills
