About the roleThis is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Systems Engineer to join our Operations Team providing end user support to internal stakeholders and external clients, troubleshooting problems and advising on required action.
Reporting to the Head of Operations, the Senior Systems Engineer will be responsible for the design, configuration and deployment of computer systems to meet internal & external client requirements, monitoring system performance, and addressing system support issues as they arise.
What you will be doing
- Working with our hosting partner organisations to configure, deploy, maintain and update our Australian-based cloud servers.
- Working closely with our development team to automate deployment of our software to our cloud infrastructure.
- Managing our accreditation obligations with Government entities such as Services Australia and the ATO.
- Managing the process of migrating legacy clients from on-premises to cloud, whilst minimising service disruption.
- Configuring services to integrate correctly with third party integration partners, whilst ensuring we maintain the security & integrity of our multi-tenancy environment.
- Configuring elevated access for co-workers for development and support, in line with our security policies and privacy obligations to our clients as well as managing corporate security practices for co-workers and other stakeholders.
- Providing on-site support for clients (as required).
- Providing Help Desk support and servicing customer tickets.
- Co-ordinating projects within the context of new client site roll outs.
- Monitoring systems performance and identifying recurring problems, resolving and mitigating as necessary including diagnosing and resolving technical hardware, software and mobile issues.
Some activities, such as upgrades, will be required to be conducted outside of standard business hours.
About youYou are an experienced Senior Systems Engineer and someone who is most comfortable rolling up your sleeves and getting the job done within a busy and supportive team and providing back up support as required for other team members. The ability to work under pressure and juggle multiple priorities and deadlines is important. You are enthusiastic and self-motivated with excellent troubleshooting skills and hands-on experience with various operating systems. We need someone with a hands-on, can-do approach, delivering support to both internal stakeholders and to our customer base across the country.
We would love to hear from you if you have:
- An undergraduate qualification in computer science, information technology or information management (strongly preferred) with a minimum of five years’ experience and a proven track record in managing server and network infrastructure.
- Experience in supporting networks and Users in multiple locations.
- Experience managing Windows-based servers within virtual platforms such as Azure, AWS, Openstack, VMWare.
- Knowledge of network configuration and maintenance for local and wide area networks, DNS as well as knowledge of security configuration and management practices using hardware & software firewalls, IPSec & SSL VPNs.
- Knowledge of Web Server Management using IIS and/or other web service tools, including encryption certificate management.
- Windows Operating System management, Active Directory and Group Policy management.
- Management of Remote Access using VNC, Remote Desktop/RemoteApp, and Multi-Factor Authentication.
- Strong scripting and automation skills using shell languages such as PowerShell, etc.
- Experience with Financial Management or other line-of-business software would be advantageous.
- Experience managing relational databases such as Microsoft SQL Server
- Knowledge of the Aged Care Sector or Disability Services is desirable but not essential, however a desire to work within the sector and help and support people is essential.
- Experience with ISO 27001 certification would be advantageous.
- The ability to travel as needed and attend client sites if required.
