About the Role


We are focused on providing quality Welfare and Engagement (W&E) services and support that provide detainees with skills, confidence, and opportunities to proactively engage and explore options pertaining to their health and wellbeing.


Reporting to the local Welfare and Engagement Manager / Coordinator you will develop, plan, manage and deliver structured and unstructured Programmes and Activities (P&A) in a culturally diverse environment, designed to provide educational and recreational opportunities, and meaningful activities that will enhance the mental health and welfare of individuals in immigration detention, in a fair and equitable manner.

Permanent full-time, working 38 hours a week on a 7 day roster.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

Certificate III in an associated discipline such as sports and recreation, social/community work and/or learning and development
Minimum of 2 years' (full time equivalent) experience in managing and conducting structured programs and activities for adults or families
Experience in working with people from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) and different religious backgrounds
Understand risk management principles

Plan, manage and respectfully deliver structured programs for people in our care, that take into consideration the special interests, skills and needs of people from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) and different religious background.

Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, including government departments, health services, and community organisations
Maintain a current Australian Federal Police Clearance
Maintain a current Working with Children Certificate in accordance with the relevant state or territory child protection legislation
National Police Check (AFP)
Hold and maintain HLTAID009 Provide CPR and HLTAID011 Provide First Aid certificates with at least 6 months of currency on the certificate
Unrestricted current Drivers Licence
