About the Role
We are focused on providing quality Welfare and Engagement (W&E) services and support that provide detainees with skills, confidence, and opportunities to proactively engage and explore options pertaining to their health and wellbeing.
You will develop, manage and deliver structured and meaningful programs and activities for the people in our care; including educational, sporting, recreational, spiritual and leisure activities that take into consideration the specialist interests, skills and needs of diverse cultures.
Provide and control a variety of resources to support the delivery of programs and ensure accurate records of all activities delivered and maintain quality of reporting.
Identify, rectify and if required, escalate contractual non-compliance.Casual position with varying hours, depending on location.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Certificate III in an associated discipline such as sports and recreation, social/community work and/or learning and development
Diploma level in an associated discipline such as Social Work or Community Services, Counselling and/or Learning and Development, Education, or related field
Qualification or extensive experience in therapeutic interventions such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Trauma-informed Practice, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Person-Centred Therapy, Mindfulness, Art Therapy, Sports Science or a relevant/related field.
Other qualifications or relevant experience in the delivery of programs for adults or children including vulnerable personsMinimum of 2 years' (full time equivalent) experience managing and conducting structured programs and activities for adults or families
Experience working with people from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) and different religious backgrounds
Understand risk management principles
Maintain a current Australian Federal Police Clearance
Maintain a current Working with Children Certificate in accordance with the relevant state or territory child protection legislation
National Police Check (AFP)
Hold and maintain HLTAID009 Provide CPR and HLTAID011 Provide First Aid certificates with at least 6 months of currency on the certificate.
Unrestricted current Drivers LicenceAbout You
You have a professional and friendly manner and enjoy interacting with people, the ability to effectively manage internal and external stakeholders within a complex and dynamic environment.
You are passionate about providing educational and recreational opportunities that are meaningful and will enhance the mental health and welfare of individuals in immigration detention.
