About the QNMU

The Queensland Nurses and Midwives’ Union (QNMU) is the industrial and professional organisation for nurses and midwives working in public and private health and aged care in Queensland. The QNMU seeks to promote and defend the industrial, professional, social, political and democratic interests of over 73,000 members. We have over 200 employees including organisers, professionals and administrative personnel, and manage a multi-million-dollar operating budget.

About the Role

In this role you will have the opportunity to use your exceptional administrative skills and passion for people to make a real difference in the lives of nurses and midwives! 

Reporting to the Administrative Services Manager you will be an experienced administrative professional providing quality administrative support across the whole of the QNMU. 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing quality administration, customer service and general support to QNMU staff and members;
  • Performing accurate word processing and data entry;
  • Engaging with members via inbound calls and email; 
  • Maintaining accurate files through the records management system; 
  • Taking minutes of meetings;
  • Contributing to the team planning and professional activities of the team.

About You

Working as part of a busy team, you will possess a professional demeanour with a strong work ethic and the demonstrated ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines.  Consistently displaying a collaborative and team-focused approach to your work, you will have the demonstrated ability to handle sensitive information and maintain confidentiality at all times. 

To be successful in this role you will posess:

  • A proactive and adaptable mindset and thrive on changing work roles providing administration coverage while other staff members are on leave;
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Applications;
  • Demonstrated experience using membership databases and record management systems;
  • Highly organised and able to prioritise tasks while supporting the administration requirements of multiple staff members and relieving on Reception. 
  • Demonstrated experience in taking minutes;
  • Demonstrated commitment to QNMU’s values; 
  • A mature, personable and professional customer service approach to work; 
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills;
