Release of Information Officer and Forms Administration Officer

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our Health Information Services team on a part time basis.

About the Role

Our Health Information Services (HIS) is a busy department providing a range of services to internal and external GPH stakeholders.  A part time role has become available in the area of Release of Information and Forms Administration

The primary responsibilities in this role include:

  • Ensuring that requests for clinical information from third parties (e.g legal representatives, courts, insurance companies, patients, third party health care providers) are responded to in accordance with the applicable legislation and policies;
  • Responding to enquiries from internal and external stakeholders regarding access to patient medical records;
  • Ensure the confidential processing of patient information to protect patient’s privacy
  • Providing support and advice to staff in respect of the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) including legal obligations with regards to release of patient information;
  • Reviewing and complying with Subpoenas and Notices of Non-Party Disclosure; and
  • Maintain the administration of all new and developed clinical forms.

This role will see you work alongside a professional release of information team and report to the Health Information Services Manager.

About You

To succeed in this role, you will be a highly organised and dedicated administrative professional.  

Crucial to this role will be a high level of accuracy, attention to detail and the time management skills to manage a high volume of medical record requests whilst strictly complying with the requirements of the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

You will also demonstrate;

  • An understanding of the Australian Privacy Principles and the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth);
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and an understanding of documentation in a medical record
  • Sound analytical skills and excellent attention to detail;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Previous experience in the health care sector;
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently as required;
  • Initiative and decision making skills with a commitment to excellent customer service;
  • Ability to utilise efficient problem solving techniques;
  • Extensive administrative experience, including proficient word processing/computer skills (MSOffice Suite)
