About the team
The Student Services Unit (SSU) is part of the Division of Education and Students. Student Services Unit consists of Counselling Service, Accessibility and Financial Assistance, Health Service, Housing Service, Careers and Higher Education Language and Presentation Support service (HELPS).
About the role
The Administrative Assistant / Receptionist provides reception services and administrative support for the Student Services Unit, specifically the medical practice, Counselling and Accessibility and Financial Assistance services.
This role provides support to the Practice Manager in ensuring the smooth operation of the SSU reception for the medical practice, Counselling and Accessibility and Financial Assistance Services.
As the Administrative Assistant / Receptionist, your responsibilities will include:
- Contributing to the delivery of high-quality customer service at the SSU reception by answering telephone calls in a timely manner and attending to customers in sensitive and caring manner.
- Triaging medical patients to ensure medical attention is provided in timely manner.
- Maintain compassionate, effective, and engaging communication with patients and clients whilst scheduling appointments and responding to enquiries.
- Timely review and action of emails from students (student services email)
- Accurate processing of billings and issuing accounts.
- Provide systems and administrative support to GPs, Counsellors and AFAS staff.

- Proven customer service skills including excellent verbal communication with ability to respond sensitively to people who are distressed.
- Proven ability to appropriately manage sensitive health and personal information
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and also within a team environment
- Proven ability to multi-task and work with a range of systems
Remuneration & Benefits
Base Salary Range: $72,374 to $77,413 pa (HEW 4)
This role attracts 17% superannuation (pension) in addition to the base salary.

The role is apart-time position (0.57 FTE, 20 hours per week, four days a week)and appointment will be madeon a continuing basis.
The working hours are structured as follows:
- Monday to Wednesday: 3:30 pm to 8:30 pm
- Thursday: 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm
