At MDAS, the Adolescent Support Caseworker will be responsible for providing high quality assertive outreach to young Aboriginal people and their families to address any identified family violence risk factors and to contribute to the development of positive behavior change and protective factors in a culturally sensitive environment. This will enable young Aboriginal people and their families to develop goals, make positive cultural and social connections and engage in a pathway that will lead to productive, healthy, and happy lives. This program provides targeted supports to highly vulnerable and complex needs for individuals and families with the intention of reducing adolescent perpetrated family violence, increasing the safety of affected family members, and strengthening the capacity of families to manage independently.
Key Selection Criteria:Communicate, consult, liaise, and negotiate with a broad range of people both Aboriginal and Non-Aboriginal people at all levels to achieve broad project objectives and goals.
Understands underlying needs and issues of stakeholders and negotiates effectively to develop and implement solutions.
Uses knowledge and experience to develop and implement systems to plan and monitor own performance.
Solves problems based on operational knowledge and experience, scanning for useful information, looking for underlying causes and suggesting alternative actions for clients and staff.
Experience in preparing written reports including case notes and reports with statistical data collected from service delivery reporting.
Take action to provide services that are inclusive of Aboriginal people and engage in learning about other cultures to better establish relationships and improve services.
Qualification/s:
Diploma of Community Services or equivalent qualification.
