ADVISER TO THE SPEAKER
DEPARTMENT OF THE LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY
FULL-TIME FIXED TERM OPPORTUNITY (July 2024 - Feb 2027)
About the role
As Advisor to the Speaker you play a crucial role in the Department of the Legislative Assembly by leading the operations of the Speaker's Office. You will work closely with senior officers of the three parliamentary departments ensure the smooth operation of the Speaker's Office, provide high level strategic advice and assistance in relation to the Office, and assist the Speaker with research as well as official dealings with other Parliaments, distinguished visitors and ceremonial events.
The role is based at Parliament House, with some flexibility on non-sitting days. On sitting days, some additional hours are required.
About you
The ideal applicant will have excellent communication skills, a proven ability to act as a strategic thinker, and can demonstrate great organisational ability, research skills and initiative.
Knowledge of parliamentary practices and procedures and the functions of the Legislative Assembly would be preferable, along with demonstrable experience in the preparation of briefing papers, complex correspondence, and other documents.
