ABOUT THE ROLE
You will be an integral member of a small team responsible for the management of AMSA’s aviation capability, ensuring consistency across a geographically dispersed team in auditing our contracted Search and Rescue (SAR) aircraft and training air search observers (ASOs).
Frequent domestic travel is a requirement, and the successful candidate must be willing to travel on fixed- and rotary-wing aircraft and on boats.
You will be responsible for:
- Managing the SAR Unit (SRU) Audit & Training Program for contracted SRU operators and ASOs.
- Performing fixed wing and rotary wing flight duties associated with SRU training and assessment.
- Coordinating development and ongoing needs analysis for SAR equipment to ensure requirements are met.
- Liaising with internal and external stakeholders on aviation SAR matters.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
To be successful in this position, you will have the following skills and experience:
- Significant experience and understanding of civil special mission operations, either fixed wing or rotary wing, preferably search and rescue operations.
- Experience in flight operations as a pilot, tactical coordinator, sensor operator, helicopter crewperson or similar (SAR, EMS, Defence etc).
- Experience in training, assessing, and auditing individual and organisational performance in an operational aviation environment.
- Ability to develop and maintain operational standards and training documentation.
