THE ROLE
At IGO we are all about making a difference, and our people are a key part of this. We are looking for like-minded safety professionals who want to be influential and involved in understanding how work is actually done, and what we can do to improve the way work happens.
Your key accountabilities will include:
Exploring everyday work by engaging with and understanding the challenges faced by front line workers;
Collaborating widely to identify new or improved solutions to every day work practices and processes to improve the safety of work;
Supporting the effective management of identified safety risks through implementation of the Mine Safety Management System (MSMS);
Supporting contractor work scope owners in the assessment and alignment of contract partners with the operations MSMS;
Supporting line management to develop a deep understanding of the critical risks of the operation and how effective our critical controls are in managing those risks;
Supporting the site to learn from safety incidents that occur onsite, or elsewhere in our industry;
Mentoring and supporting elected health and safety representatives to be effective in their role; and
Supporting the organisation in the timely and accurate internal and external reporting of safety performance information.
YOUR EXPERIENCE
To be successful in this role, you will be an excellent communicator with strong relationship building and stakeholder management skills. You will also have the following:
Diploma in Workplace Health and Safety (minimum);
Strong technical knowledge and capability in contemporary WHS management;
Experience in heavy industry, preferably mining;
Demonstrated analytical ability and report writing skills;
A collaborative working style with the ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment and initiative;
Valid ‘C’ class manual drivers licence; and
National Police Clearance obtained within the last two months.
