Join our dynamic team at EMRC (Eastern Metropolitan Regional Council) where safety is at the forefront of our operations. We are seeking a passionate and experienced individual to fill the role of Senior Work Health and Safety Advisor. This diverse position offers the opportunity to contribute to the development and implementation of a robust safety management system while working within a fun and supportive team environment.
This is a hands-on role within a supportive team, involving site visits, WHS compliance assistance, and building strong relationships with operational teams. You will thrive in our positive working culture, where safety is paramount, and organisational values are prioritised for achieving strategic objectives.
Collaborate in the development and implementation of the WHS annual plan, establish and sustain a practical WHS strategy to cultivate a safety-centric culture, perform thorough WHS audits, inspections, and investigations, and guarantee the accreditation of EMRC's safety management system to meet the WA Worksafe standard.
Interact with management and employees, organise and conduct WHS briefings, training sessions, and coordinate the overall WHS training program.
Collaborate with insurance, medical, and legal representatives for workers' compensation, and maintain an effective Accident/Incident reporting system.
Engage in employee representative groups and coordinate committees including the Safety and Health Advisory, Health Promotions, and Emergency Response Groups.
Offer strategic and technical advice on WHS, contribute to policy, management guideline and procedure development, review systems and plans, and co-coordinate Injury Management and Return to Work programs.
Support the development, review, and monitoring of safety-related business plans and budgets, ensure compliance with the organisation's electronic Document Management system, and actively seek and report methods for continuous improvement in work systems.
To be successful in this role, you will have the following:
- Possess tertiary qualifications in Work Health and Safety.
- Bring a minimum of 2 years' expertise as a seasoned WHS professional.
- Demonstrate a successful track record in championing and fostering a safety culture within intricate and diverse environments.
- Showcase significant experience in formulating preventive strategies to mitigate Health and Safety risks in the workplace.
- Exhibit advanced knowledge of pertinent WHS and Workers Compensation legislation, regulations, procedures, and standards.
- Display a proven background in preparing and delivering impactful safety and health-related training.
- Showcase highly refined analytical and written communication skills, including the ability to devise effective strategies and recommendations.
- Demonstrate adept interpersonal and oral communication skills, facilitating effective liaison with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Possess a Senior First Aid certificate.
- Eligible for membership in the Safety Institute of (Western) Australia.
