Follow @abbvie on , , , and .Job DescriptionPRIMARY FUNCTION/OBJECTIVE:To support the AbbVie External Affairs objectives in Australia in support of our pipeline, improving access to innovative medicines and breaking down barriers to care.Major Responsibilities:Build and maintain an understanding of current and anticipated future political, advocacy and policy trends and help to embed these into AbbVie's External Affairs strategy, through the mapping and monitoring of the external environment.Support Government Affairs Lead and Patient Advocacy Lead to build and strengthen relationships with key influencers within Federal and State Governments, the Public Services, industry associations, health consumer, professional bodies and other relevant bodies.Support the development and delivery of integrated advocacy strategies for AbbVie and priority therapeutic areas, including supporting the development of policy positions.Work with Government Affairs Lead to identify opportunities within the political environment to drive dissemination of AbbVie and Medicines Australia policy positions.Support AbbVie's participation in relevant Medicines Australia and industry task force initiatives, where relevant.Coordinate AbbVie involvement at various external events.Manage and maintain internal systems that underpin Government Affairs and Patient Advocacy functions.Provide internal support for general tasks at the direction of the External Affairs leadership team.QualificationsEducation/Experience Required:Knowledge of Australian politicsPharmaceutical industry or health experienceUnderstanding of Medicines Australia Code of ConductEssential Skills & Abilities:Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Strong teamwork/collaboration skills.Superior writing and presentation skills.Strong interest in public health and policy.Tertiary qualifications related to business, policy, advocacy or government affairs.Existing relationships with advocacy stakeholders.Previous government role or experience in an advocacy role within a health-related patient group or corporate environment.Additional InformationAbbVie is committed to operating with integrity, driving innovation, transforming lives, serving our community and embracing diversity and inclusion.
