About the Opportunity:

The team at Liverpool Hospital are recruiting for a friendly, dedicated and outgoing After Hours Clinical Nurse Consultant to join the Team and make a true difference to the local community.

This role requires someone who can interact with others in a highly professional and personable manner. You will be a critical thinker who facilitates evidence based practice by working collaboratively with the Nursing team to provide expert clinical advice and care to patients, carers and other health care professionals.

We are looking for someone who is a true leader and can become a person of influence in their role. The role requires someone with strong negotiation skills and who can drive change in the facility. You will bring your expert clinical knowledge to the role and be ready to grow and develop the service through sharing your expertise with the team.

You will be able to work both independently and as part of a strong, multidisciplinary team and you will bring with you your professional knowledge and judgement in providing care in highly complex cases.

Collaboration is at the forefront of this role and you will be able to form professional working relationships with After Hours Senior Nurse Managers and the broader After Hour Clinical Support team.

Where You'll Be Working:

  • Liverpool Hospital, founded in 1813, is the major health service for south-western Sydney, providing services to the local government area of Liverpool City Council as well as district services to residents and visitors in the area. It also provides a range of state-wide services in areas such as critical care and trauma, neonatal intensive care and brain injury rehabilitation.
  • The Hospital provides a health service of international standing, with 23 operating theatres, capacity for 877 beds, diagnostic and imaging services, emergency and trauma care, maternity, paediatric, cancer care, mental health, ambulatory care, allied health and medical and surgical services from birth to aged care.
  • Liverpool Hospital is currently undergoing a major redevelopment. The $790 million Liverpool Health and Academic Precinct (LHAP) project will provide enhanced facilities and an increased capacity to meet future significant population growth for South Western Sydney.
  • Liverpool Hospital is a principal referral and teaching Hospital of the University of NSW and the Western Sydney University and also welcome students from over 20 universities and colleges.
  • Located in the heart of Liverpool City, the hospital is close to public transport, shopping centres and eateries.

    1. Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA). At least 5 years full time equivalent post registration experience, with at least 3 years full time experience in the specialty field. Approved post graduate nursing qualifications in a field relevant to the specialty field or such other qualifications or experience deemed appropriate by the organisation.
    2. Demonstrated evidence of strategies used to maintain current knowledge of clinical practice advances and research in the relevant specialty
    3. Demonstrated ability to apply expert knowledge to provide safe compassionate quality care that is culturally responsive
    4. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and engage with patients/consumers, carers and the multidisciplinary health care team to identify and ensure responsiveness of care needs
    5. Demonstrated capacity to interact with others in a personable and professional manner and personally resolve conflicts when they arise
    6. Demonstrated evidence of the use of critical thinking as it relates to the delivery of advanced evidenced based nursing care
    7. Demonstrated understanding and participation in risk management, work health and safety and quality improvement in the workplace
