  • Enjoy an inclusive and diverse workplace with access to flexible working arrangements and an excellent work life balance

About the Role
The Agile Coach is a senior Agile expert in the Information Technology Services (ITS) department. Agile Coaches work as part of the Agile Coaching Chapter in the Lean Agile Centre of Excellence (LACE) team in ITS to introduce and support modern ways of working which align with the new ITS operating model, including uplifting maturity in Agile and DevOps practices.

The Agile Coach will support cross-functional delivery and operational teams across several Groups within ITS to uplift their delivery capability, by introducing an Agile mindset and embedding Agile principles and values in their approaches. As these Groups support critical IT services for the University, there will be a particular focus on continual improvement, reduction in technical debt, and service delivery excellence.
The Agile Coach will provide coaching support across three key tracks including delivery enablement, team growth, and individual growth. They will assist in providing leadership, guidance, and direction to teams and their members, in collaboration with the Delivery and DevOps Chapters. Agile Coaches take an evidence-based approach to understanding and uplifting the maturity across their teams and will co-create and enact action plans with teams and Value Stream/Group Leads to improve this maturity.

Key Duties:

  • Prepare and run health radars with Value Streams or Enabling Groups and teams, using data and insights to identify areas of low maturity and create coaching plans to grow capability, continually improve, and experiment with new approaches
  • Create and deliver relevant training and documentation on Agile concepts, frameworks, techniques and toolsets, to address identified gaps or build on foundational knowledge to help teams level up
  • Plan and facilitate core ITS Portfolio and Group events that align with the ITS operating model, including scaled Horizon Planning and Review activities, Scrum of Scrum sessions, Retrospectives and Showcases (in partnership with Group & Delivery Leads)
  • Assist in creating and maintaining key delivery artifacts in line with the Lean Portfolio Management framework, including Objectives and Key Results (OKRs), Strategic and Horizon Plans, and Dashboards (in partnership with Group & Delivery Leads)
  • Contribute towards a healthy organisational culture within ITS, which includes championing our ITS Values and promoting innovation, transparency and accountability at all levels

About You
We welcome applications from individuals who possess the following attributes:

  • Significant experience in supporting ITS teams, particularly enabling or operational teams, to achieve high quality outcomes and excellence in service delivery
  • Extensive knowledge and application of relevant Lean and Agile frameworks and approaches at both team and scaled program/portfolio level
  • Familiarity with relevant toolsets (e.g. Atlassian Jira and Confluence) and metrics to support Agile work practices
  • Proven ability to form excellent working relationships with business stakeholders and sponsors as well as with key ITS staff such as Value/Stream Group Leads and Chapter Leads to partner effectively to help drive change.
