Burdekin Productivity Services are seeking a Commercial Manager and Company Secretary. The ideal candidate will have experience or show ability to rapidly acquire skills in relation to:
- Accounting and general administration of company bank accounts and budgeting
- Preparation of financial reports and use of MYOB or similar accounting package
- Oversight of company compliance including financial, workplace health and safety and cyber security
- Preparation of board papers and reports and recording of minutes of board meetings
- General corporate governance and strategic planning
- Staff management and co-ordination of logistics
This exciting opportunity also has a practical and client liaison aspect, and the successful candidate will demonstrate abilities to establish and maintain key relationships with sugarcane industry stakeholders and most importantly, sugarcane growers. The role entails supervision of some staff, and co-ordination of disease prevention measures - training will be provided.
Burdekin Productivity Services is a not for profit company owned by sugarcane growers and Wilmar (milling company) and is based in Ayr. Key focus areas for the organisation include:
- Pest and disease support and management for sugarcane growers
- Approved seed cane distribution and co-ordination
- Agronomic support for sugarcane growers
- Data collection and interpretation to improve productivity and profitability for industry
- Adoption of technology to improve productivity, profitability and sustainability
- Staff training, safety, support and well being to maintain grower relationships and services to industry
BPS has a board of 6 directors and on ground staff of 12. This position reports to the Manager. An attractive remuneration package will be negotiated based on experience.
