About the Role:
Are you passionate about improving educational outcomes for all children and ensuring equal opportunities? The Department for Education in South Australia is seeking dedicated Social Workers to join our Children in Care team to contribute to improve the educational outcomes for Children in Care and make a lasting impact on their lives.
The Social Worker (Children in Care) works as part of Student Support Services with relevant agencies including preschools and schools and the Department for Child Protection on supporting children and young people in Care in collaboration with their carer’s and support networks. The role uses evidence-based interventions that include proactive, targeted and intensive strategies that can be adapted for learning and home context and provide an interagency link between the department and other agencies who may be providing support to the child, young person and their carer.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Provide a broad range of professional and direct service across a range of service settings at the individual, group, whole site and Partnership level with a focus on Children in Care.
- Undertake case coordination and management for learners requiring multiple services within and outside the agency, in collaboration with other team members.
- Contribute to the provision of strategic information and role development for the department by the analysis and interpretation of local Children in Care data.
- Use knowledge of current research and knowledge relating to children and young people who have experienced trauma and/or have complex learning difficulties, including an understanding of the process of assessment and case management required for children and young people facing a challenging and complex range of co-mobility.
- Essential an appropriate degree or equivalent which gives eligibility for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.
The successful applicant is required to gain a Department for Human Services (DHS) working with children check (WWCC) prior to being employed which is required to be renewed every five years before expiry. The incumbent will be required to undertake RRHAN –EC (Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect - Education Care) Facilitator Lead (Masterclass) extended course or the online (Fundamentals) course which will be required to be updated every three years.

Remuneration:
AHP2: $86,950 - $100,729 per annum (1.0 FTE), plus superannuation.
