The charming young man lives in a modern house and has access 24x7 support with Autism SA.The role is mainly based primarily in Andrews Farm area.These exciting hands-on roles are offered on a permanent part-time basis. The opportunity also offers a chance to extend the hours equivalent to full-time work. The successful candidate must be available to work over a 7-day roster including passive(sleepover) nights and weekend work.As a Support Worker for this program, you will report to the House Leader & Service Manager. You will be liaising with the families and other services involved in the support of the young man.What we can offer

- Providing direct support to clients of Autism SA
- Planning and executing meaningful experiences for the clients and attending and supporting them at appointments.
- Implementing therapy programs and following support plans including meal plans, positive behaviour support plans, and other allied health plans
- Shopping, cooking, personal care, recording routine charts, and documentation.
- Communicating with other service providers including Occupational & Speech Therapists and Community Participation providers as needed regarding the day-to-day support needs of the young men.
- Be a passionate, reliable, and dedicated Support Worker who is looking to grow and further develop your skills.
- Strong ability to work collaboratively with others to ensure a consistent approach to enable clients to reach their goals.
- Experience in supporting individuals requiring personal care, manual handling, and medication administration via gastrostomy (training will be provided)
- Experience in or willingness to learn alternative communication methods
- Effective communication skills including report writing and verbal
- Ability to use initiative to develop solutions to day-to-day challenges
- Be able to work effectively as part of a team
- Safe environments for children and young people (Through Their Eyes) training
- Minimum Certificate III in Individual Support or Disability or similar equivalent qualification
- Assist with Medication training
- Full Australian Drivers Licence
- Must be able and available to work across the roster including passive sleepovers
- National Police Clearance within the last 3 months (or willing to obtain one)
- NDIS Workers Check and DHS Working with Children Check
- Current First Aid & CPR certificate
- Undergraduate study in an allied health degree such as Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Developmental Education, Speech Pathology, Special Education, or Social Work (desirable). Similar qualifications or/and relevant industry experience will also be considered
- Knowledge of the autism spectrum and effective strategies for support
- Experience implementing Positive Behaviour Support strategies and plans
