The Town of Port Hedland entered into a historic deal with Dexus Group and Foresight Group for a long-term lease of Port Hedland International Airport (PHIA) on 11 March 2016.

PHIA is the only International Airport in the Pilbara serving more than 500,000 passengers per year and a direct link to the world's largest iron ore export port and proximity to major oil and gas fields.

PHIA is home to domestic and international freight with oversize aircraft capability (Antonov-124), Borderforce and Biosecurity operations, refueling, aviation firefighting, transient worker accommodation, a bulk transport precinct, Port Hedland School of the Air and the Royal Flying Doctor Service.

POSITION OVERVIEW
The purpose of this residential based role is to ensure PHIA maintains a safe working and operating environment for all people visiting the airport.
The successful candidate would generally up-keep and maintain all airport infrastructure including car park systems and terminal security services whilst delivering a superior customer experience to all that visit the airport.
Key duties include but are not limited to general maintenance activities, handyman duties and front of house officer duties including car park maintenance, baggage system maintenance, terminal security maintenance and operations. This role will also work airside and be involved and have exposure to all facets of the airport’s operations, in a Regional Airport environment.
KEY DUTIES
- Under supervision carry out landside and airside maintenance activities such as baggage handling system repairs and general terminal maintenance including security equipment, painting, reticulation repairs and maintenance.
- Actively monitor car park operations and carry out allocated maintenance on the car park operating system (Skidata).
- Maintain a high profile in Front of House (FOH) landside areas and direct vehicles appropriately within the airport as required.
- Conduct handyman duties, plumbing and building repairs of a minor nature.
- Carry out repairs and maintenance of asphalt and bitumen surfaces on runways, taxiways, aprons and landside areas.
- Liaise with airport users, tenants, contractors and general public.
- Any other tasks as required by the Terminal Operations Supervisor.

- All Airport Staff, consultants and contractors.
MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS (SELECTION CRITERIA)
- Sound knowledge in maintenance activities and use of small hand tools and tractor operations.
- Proof of experience in a similar position
- Well organised with the ability to multi-task; plan-ahead, prioritise and to organise activities.
- Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills.
- Self-motivation and driven to set goals and achieve them.
- Good understanding of WHS principles and processes.
- Hold and maintain a current valid Driver's Licence for the vehicle(s) used at PHIA.
- Be willing to undergo pre-employment medical and/or drug and alcohol screening.
- Must be able to undertake and pass random drug and alcohol testing.
- Ability to obtain and retain an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC).
