Seeking an experienced Maintenance Officer to join a team in East Perth - 12 month temporary contract

A major government organisation in East Perth, are seeking an experienced Maintenance Officer to monitor the delivery of repair and maintenance across the building facilities. This opportunity is being offered on a 12-month temporary contract, working full-time hours Monday to Friday. The department are eager to have someone start ASAP following a successful interview.
Your new role
As the Maintenance Officer, you will be responsible for supporting the delivery of repairs and maintenance across the building facilities. Your duties will include:
- Monitor preventative maintenance on the air conditioning, electrical, mechanical, emergency and related equipment.
- Proactively monitor and schedule breakdown, corrective and planned maintenance ensuring completion on time.
- Carries out inspections, records and monitors actions as needed.
- On site coordination, providing access and enforcing permit process for contractors
- Attends and manages rectification of related equipment infrastructure defects, faults and alarms.
- Maintains the facilities emergency services, ensuring adherence to public safety requirements.
- Provides occupational safety and health induction of contractors.
- Monitors contractors engaged to maintain and repair plant and equipment.
- Purchases and maintains adequate supply of spare parts.
- Provides administrative and on-the-ground support for projects.
- Monitors contractor performance and provide reports accordingly.
What you'll need to succeed
In order to be considered, you will have previous experience in a similar role, in addition to:
- Possession of a Trades certificate (desirable)
- Demonstrated experience working in a multidisciplinary maintenance / facilities position
- Experience liaising with contractors regarding maintenance activities
- Confident understanding of OHS
- Excellent IT skills with confidence in navigating a computer and various systems
- Excellent organisation and communication skills
