Opportunity exists within Air Niugini Cairns Airport for the role of Airport Supervisor.
Reporting to the Australian Airports Regional Manager, the Airport Supervisor is responsible for the overall supervision of Air Niugini Cairns Airport operations.
Responsibilities
- Maintain efficient airport operations by directing and coordinating the effective utilization of equipment, human resources and facilities.
- Direct and monitor handling requirements for client operators such as Qantas and other visiting airlines from time to time.
- Ensure operational and customer services standards are complied with as required.
- Ensure safety of staff and passengers/visitors to the terminal by recommending and implementing appropriate Occupational Health and Safety standards.
- Determine staffing requirements to ensure sufficient staff coverage especially at peak times by providing accurate budgetary figures.
- Assist Airport Manager in the preparation and management of staff and operational budgets. Ensure that expenditure is within approved limits and that staff are deployed with efficiency.
- Assist in maximum utilisation of human resources through performance appraisals, counselling and deployment of staff.
- Create a harmonious and efficient working environment committed to providing quality to customers by assisting in the training of staff.
- Maintain a positive company image by ensuring on time departures and efficient customer service.
- Drive and Maintain Customer Service Standards through meeting VIPs, CIPs, etc. and other passenger's travel.
- Ensuring counters are manned and service recovery is achieved through effective disruption management.
- Ensure pre-flight editing/planning is carried out by delegated Senior Traffic Officers or delegate.
- Ensure Weight & Balance functions are performed by or delegated to Senior Traffic Officers.
- Ensure Post – Flight reconciliation is undertaken.
- Ensure Sales Summaries prepared for Daily Banking.
- Ensure Daily Banking is carried out.
- Ensure Flight Packets and Sales Returns are uplifted.
Skills / Experience Required
- Minimum of 5 years International Airport operations work experience.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to motivate staff to enable efficient service to travelling public.
- Liaison with staff of all levels and external authorities.
- Must be physically and mentally fit as job is very demanding and can be stressful.
- Ability to handle and calm irate customers.
- Ability to endure difficult situations arising from delayed flights due to unserviceable equipment or other technical problems.
- Extensive experience in staff management, Load Control, Ramp and Passenger Handling activities.
- Airport Management experience would be an advantage.
- Knowledgeable in Occupational Health and Safety standards would be an advantage.
