What you’ll contribute to:

We are currently seeking a driven and energetic individual to join the Mt Isa Airport team as an Airport Operations Supervisor! In this role, you will be responsible for the delivery of safe and secure operations of the airside environment, ensuring compliance with various safety regulations.

Michaiah joined the Mount Isa Airport team in 2023 as an Aviation Regulatory Compliance Officer. She shares her experience working at MIAPL below: 

“I joined MIAPL to start a new career path. Mine and my team's purpose is to monitor and maintain the safety of the aerodrome and all users within it, and I manage regulatory compliance throughout the airport as well as handle administration.

I have only been working for MIAPL for a couple of months, so it's hard to say what my journey is so far, but I will say it's been quite fun with the MIAPL team.” 

How will you make an impact?

We are seeking an individual who has experience in aviation or a highly regulated environment, and has experience in leading a team. As this role ensures compliance with safety regulations, excellent verbal and written communication are a must.

This role requires security clearance for an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC), a QLD Weapons License, and an Airside Drivers Licence.

Other desirable skills and experience:

• Experience/training in the safety and security fields
• Knowledge of Airport Operations, standards, and policies
• Report writing
• Experience in the management and leadership of a team
• Takes initiative and a good team worker
• Good computer literacy (Microsoft Office suite)
• Some experience in maintenance

Key deliverables/responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Safe and secure operation of airside environment in line with relevant regulations and SOPS
• Serviceability inspections of the movement areas and lighting conducted according to the Aerodrome Manual and movement area surfaces integrity maintained
• Patrols and surveillance on the airside of the airport conducted according to the Aerodrome Manual
• Bird and Wildlife hazards managed in accordance with the Bird and Wildlife Management Plan
• Ensure development and maintenance of the Airport’s Environmental Management Plan
• Identify training and development needs of subordinate staff and arrange appropriate training.
