About the role
Mater Private Hospital Bundaberg is currently seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Allied Health Assistant to join the team in a casual role.
The successful candidate must have availability across 7 days and will primarily support Physiotherapists within our Rehabilitation Service with limited supervision. You will also work closely with Allied Health and Nursing teams to deliver services to a variety of patients including Orthopaedic, Medical and Surgical patients.
Mater Private Hospital Bundaberg has been caring for the people of Bundaberg and surrounds since 1946. Our 59-bed facility is dedicated to supporting our community to live happy and healthy lives. The hospital is equipped with four operating theatres, a day surgery unit and offers a full complement of medical specialist services.
Salary range: $39.64 - $41.40 (Operational Officer Level 3) per hour (inclusive of casual loading) plus superannuation and salary packaging
What you’ll be doing
The purpose of the role is to deliver competent and professional assistance to patients, families, clinicians and care providers. Key tasks will include:
- Assist in delivery of therapy services including applying individual therapy programs and running group sessions devised by therapists. This will mainly focus on Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy and Speech and Language Therapy.
- Assisting therapists with assessments, home visits and supervising patients in the dining room.
- Liaising with the treating therapist to ensure an understanding of program requirements and feeding back outcomes of sessions.
- Assisting with transport of patients to and from therapy and the dining room.
- Record progress of patient’s therapy goals in medical records or other appropriate documentation.
- Administrative tasks as required.
- Cleaning and reviewing equipment and therapy areas and preparing for sessions.
About you
To be successful in your application, you will have:
- A certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance
- Possession of a valid open driver’s licence
- Advanced communication skills, including the ability to communicate with clients, carers and service providers and respond to competing demands
- Flexibility – able to adapt work hours / days as required to meet demands of the service, including weekends
- Demonstrated experience working within a hospital or disability environment
- Ability to actively participate in a team
- High level of computer skills
- Highly competent organisation and time management skills
