An exciting opportunity exists for an Allied Health Assistant to work across the areas of Child Life Therapy and Social Work.Due to the nature of this position, it will not be possible to accommodate leave requests for completing clinical placements (with the exception of Allied Health Assistant student placements). Days of work will be determined based on successful applicants availability and department needs, weekend work may be considered.What you'll be doingThe Allied Health Assistant is part of an integrated, multidisciplinary Allied Health team to improve patient experience by providing assistance and support to Allied Health professionals (AHPs) in the provision of clinical and therapeutic services’ services to children, young people and families in the Sydney Children’s Hospital Network.The Allied Health Assistant (AHA) will work as a member of the multidisciplinary team, under the direction and supervision of physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech pathologists, dietitians, Child Life therapists and Social Workers.
The AHA will provide assistance to the AHPs in helping to facilitate various clinical interventions designed to provide timely access to services & intervention including with provisions of equipment.
- Completion of 12 or more months' service as an Allied Health Assistant Level 1 and/or Certificate III or IV Allied Health Assistant Qualifications or equivalent professional qualifications or working towards qualification.
- Experience working with children and families. Experience working with people with disability and/or in a hospital or healthcare environment.
- Proven ability to be organised, prioritise a number of competing demands/tasks & manage time effectively & efficiently.
- Ability to work independently and within a team; and ability to work under instruction with a willingness to learn.
- Highly effective interpersonal and written communication skills and computer literacy
- Ability to work flexible work hours, including weekends when negotiated
- Understanding WH&S requirements of the role and physical ability to move / transfer clients & equipment safely
