Northern Adelaide Local Health Network (NALHN) is eager to recruit an Allied Health Assistant to work in our dynamic, growing and supportive team, to help us deliver exceptional care to our community.

Located on Kaurna Country, in the North and North-Eastern Suburbs of Adelaide, close to the world-famous Barossa Valley wine region, and within 30 minutes of the CBD, NALHN serves more than 400 000 people at the Lyell McEwin and Modbury Hospitals, along with our state-of-the-art Specialist Ambulatory Rehabilitation Centre and our community and home-based sites. The network boasts newly redeveloped wards and Emergency and Outpatient Departments, with plans for the addition of more brand-new facilities in the near future. About the Role:

An exciting opportunity is presented to work within the Northern Adelaide Local Health Network as an Allied Health Assistant within the Forensic Mental health.

The Forensic Mental Health Service is a multidisciplinary service that consists of inpatient secure psychiatric beds, Out-patient Service and Psychiatric Clinics, Prison In-Reach Service, Community Team; and Court Assessment Service. The Allied Health Assistant works within the secure psychiatric hospital, James Nash House / Kenneth O’Brien Rehabilitation Unit, which provides services primarily to patients who have been declared not guilty by reason of mental impairment or unfit to plead of an offence by the SA court system.

The Allied Health Assistant focuses on meeting the practical needs of patients and their families of the

Forensic Mental Health Service.

The Allied Health Assistant is responsible to the Senior Social Worker, for the provision of utilising

knowledge of welfare and resources and negotiating and brokering skills to ensure that patients receive

benefits and services to which they are entitled, and which are necessary to support their hospitalisation, discharge and future care.

To be eligible for this position, you must have:

ESSENTIAL MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Educational/Vocational Qualifications

  • Certificate 4 in Allied Health Assistance, or Mental Health or equivalent

Immunisation Risk for this position is – Category A (direct contact with blood or body substances)

SA Health Services are required to implement the Addressing vaccine preventable disease: Occupational assessment, screening and vaccination policy in the workplace.
