Part Time Ongoing Role.
An exciting opportunity exists for a part time Allied Health assistance (AHA Gr 1 or 2) to join our dynamic team in the imaging department at Peter Mac. As an integral part of our team, you'll support our technologists in delivering direct patient care during imaging and therapy procedures. Responsibilities include preparing patients for procedures, assisting with patient transfers, maintaining equipment and supplies, ensuring compliance with infection control measures, updating patient records and aiding in patient positioning and transfers.
THE TEAM
The team consists of Allied Health Assistants, nursing, nuclear medicine technologists, pathology collectors and nuclear medicine physicians.
We are a growing service performing nearly 10,000 PET scans and 850 therapy treatments each year for inpatients and outpatients.
The Allied Health Assistant role works closely with the team to provide direct patient care.

The Allied Health Assistant (AHA) (Imaging) role will provide operational support to the Technologist teams in the Cancer Imaging Department to ensure the work in the area is safe, effective and efficient. The role operates within the imaging department to add substantial value to the throughput, efficiency and service delivery of the imaging services.
The AHA (Imaging) is an important part of a team responsible for patient care, quality control, infection control and relevant clerical components of providing imaging to patients.

1.Patient Care
- Operate within agreed scope of practice at all times
- Provide excellent patient communication by ensuring patients are kept informed of any delays to their scheduled appointment times.
- Provide support to the relevant department, directly reporting the area Supervisor/Lead, in performing a range of tasks. Tasks are undertaken when deemed competent by the area Supervisor and may include but is not limited to the following:
- Liaise with ward nursing staff on transport arrangements so that there is appropriate and timely transport of patients to the department.
- Escort patients to and from examination rooms.
- Set up room ready for examination.
- Maintain cleanliness of the examination room and fully comply with Peter Mac Infection Control requirements at all times.
- Locate patients in readiness for scanning
- Assist staff with patient transfers to the examination couch.
- Assist in the safe care of patients and staff before, during and after each examination.
- Collect and/or return patients to/from front reception.
- Correct procedures are followed for use and storage of protective lead aprons, screens, gloves and all imaging accessories.
- Review and enter patient and examination related data into Radiological Information System (RIS) and Electronic Medical Record (EMR) where appropriate to do so.
- Complete consumable weekly orders and restock for area (linen, contrast etc), in conjunction with Inventory Clerk.
- Ensure relationships with colleagues, patients and consumers are professional and ethical and that cultural differences are respected.
- Promote a positive and cohesive team culture
- Assist other team members when own workload is reduced
3. Quality and Safety
- Comply with confidentiality obligations with regard to patients, consumers and colleagues.
- Comply with all Peter Mac policies and procedures, particularly relating to safe patient management
- Complete mandatory competencies yearly, including but not limited to Fire and emergency training, and manual handling.
- Complete training and maintain high standards in radiation safety.
- Complete yearly Professional Development Plan
- Complete mandatory competencies yearly, including but not limited to Hand Hygiene and Aseptic Non Touch Technique (ANTT).
- Assist with cleaning duties, including but not limited to cleaning specialised equipment.
