John Hunter Hospital's Physiotherapy Department provides services to JHH, Rankin Park Centre (RPC), and Belmont District Hospital (BDH). The Physiotherapy department is committed to providing high-quality and innovative services to meet the needs of patients and the community.
JHH Physiotherapy is seeking a dynamic and motivated Physiotherapy Assistant with strong communication, time management, and organisational skills to assist the Physiotherapists in providing safe, patient-centred, high-quality physiotherapy services. This position is based at John Hunter Hospital.
About the role:
- Under the supervision of a qualified Allied Health Professional, you will facilitate client, patient, and consumer care by providing both clinical and administrative support
- The successful applicant will work across the inpatient and outpatient services of JHH
- They will be involved in assisting physiotherapists with assessments, implementing therapy plans, and other suitable activity programs such as hydrotherapy
- We offer our valued staff comprehensive orientation and training and support ongoing education, professional development, and research
- Staff will be orientated and well-supported by the JHH Physiotherapy Leadership team
- In addition to local orientation and training, HNELHD provides a structured professional development program for all Allied Health Assistants
Requirements:
- To meet the requirements for Level 2: demonstrated experience working as an Allied Health Assistant Level 1 for a period of 12 months or more and/or Certificate III in Allied Health Assistance (or equivalent qualification)
- If the applicant is unable to demonstrate these requirements, the applicant will commence service at Level 1
- If the applicant has completed a Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance they will be classified as an Allied Health Assistant Level 3

About you:
- You have strong communication, time management, and organisational skills
- You have effective written and verbal communication skills as well as computer literacy
- You can work both independently and cooperatively with health professionals in a multidisciplinary team environment
- You are enthusiastic and motivated with excellent skills to facilitate patient engagement in therapeutic-based activities
- You have completed or are working towards the completion of Certificate III or Certificate IV Allied Health Assistant is desirable
