Due to continued success and growth, HRL has an opportunity for an Analytical Chemist to join our Analytical Services Team on a full time basis to assist in leading the delivery of laboratory services in our head office in Mulgrave, Victoria.
About the role
Working as part of a team, in line with government operating and reporting standards, Analytical Chemist team members will be responsible for:
- sample preparation such as fusion and acid digestion
- testing of samples
- analysis of solutions by ICP-OES, ICP-MS, IC and titration
- maintenance of the test results database
- preparing analysis reports
- operating equipment including XRF, LOI and NIR equipment
- conducting Quality Control assessment of data and reporting of results
- Full working rights in Australia.
About you
You will be energetic in your approach, a committed and enthusiastic team player, passionate to pursue continuous learning and willing to undertake a wide range of tasks. You must be flexible in your work approach and able to handle changing demands and priorities to meet Company and customer expectations.
You will have:
- Relevant degree, Associate Diploma or relevant qualifications in science and/or related areas of expertise
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in the operation and maintenance of ICP-OES and MS, XRF, AAS, UV-Vis and/or wet chemistry techniques
- Knowledge in the areas of combustion chemistry, minerals processing, water chemistry, or environmental chemistry would be considered favourably.
- Knowledge of laboratory practices, techniques, operating procedures, and requirements for operating in a NATA lab
- A commitment to safe work practices
- High levels of attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills
- An ability to work without supervision and complete allocated tasks
- Experience with LIMS (advantageous)
- A sound knowledge of Microsoft Suite
- A valid driver’s licence
