Application AnalystTransfusion Medicine / Cell Therapy (TM/CT)

  • Shape the future of pathology in Victoria through the implementation of a new Laboratory information System (LIS)
  • Part time 40 hours per fortnight, 21-month fixed term contract, systems training provided
  • $90k to $120k pro rata depending on skills and experience, 5 weeks annual leave salary packaging options
  • Hybrid – Melbourne CBD and WFH

Your new role:

The Victorian Department of Health is investing and strengthening public pathology in Victoria. A key enabler is of a more integrated and sustainable model of pathology delivery is a common Laboratory Information System (LIS).

This position is part of the Pathology Network West (PNW), LISConnect team who will implement a LIS to service the Parkville medical precinct over a 21-month period.

As Applications Analyst – Transfusion Medicine / Cell Therapy (TM/CT) you will report to the Lead Applications Analyst – Transfusion Medicine / Cell Therapy  and work closely with the Pathology Advisers to enable the design, build and test of an integrated TM and CT module for the overall LIS solution.

Flexibility is essential, as the position requires availability for attending training and the ability to work across all Parkville Pathology and Health Services as required. Additionally, all Application Analysts must attend Epic application training, either virtually within Australia or in Wisconsin, USA, and successfully achieve certification.

About you: 

  • You demonstrate experience in end-to-end project delivery (requirements to implementation) in clinical/health information systems (e.g., LIS, EMR) or relevant leadership of laboratory system configuration/ application improvement projects. 
  • You hold tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline (e.g., Laboratory Science / Health Science / Health ICT) or equivalent experience.  
  • Demonstrated understanding/experience of laboratory processes and practices, and their intersection with other areas of the healthcare sector (Hospitals, GPs) is highly regarded as is experience working with TM and / or CT systems.
  • You have an analytical mindset and curiosity to solving system problems.
  • You demonstrate great relationship skills and flexibility in how your approach your colleagues, your work and change.

As part of the overarching pathology reforms, the pathology services from the Royal Melbourne Hospital, Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, the Royal Women’s Hospital and the Royal Children’s Hospital will through a change process that is in progress transition to a new separate public pathology entity. The new model for delivering public pathology services will present an exciting opportunity to improve the scope, scale and reach of pathology services and testing capability to all Victorians.

As this role is with Royal Melbourne Hospital the successful candidate for this role will be initially employed by Royal Melbourne Hospital. Once the change process has been completed and the new public pathology entity is fully formed, which is anticipated to be in late 2024, this position and the successful candidate’s employment (including terms and conditions of employment) will transition to the new public pathology entity.
