Your new role
As an Application Specialist, you will undertake analysis, maintenance and support services across core application systems, and system related projects. You would be the key escalation point for application queries, and a key conduit between system project implementation and second level systems support queries.
Role and responsibilities:
- Enhance, maintain, and develop strategic systems, ensuring security, integrity, availability, optimum utilisation.
- Assist in implementing system related projects in conjunction with platform upgrades and further enhancements.
- Manage and implement rigorous testing procedures for software changes and upgrades.
- Liaise and co-ordinate with the business to plan, schedule and co-ordinate system outages, database administration tasks and other tuning activities to ensure optimum performance of systems.
- Resolve complex system issues when required for 1st, 2nd and 3rd level support by liaising with the vendor as required and acting as the interface between the staff and the vendor.
- Provide high level system advice to software vendors, application owners and the Business and Information Technology team.
- Consult with staff to identify document and streamline business processes, developing user requirements/specifications.
- Use high level communication and ICT change management techniques to ensure optimum uptake and utilisation of systems.
- Assist in the ongoing development of integration layers between the integration platform(s) and other corporate systems and platforms
- Participate in the user groups to ensure a coordinated and cohesive approach to all systems.
- Develop strong and positive relationships with internal and external customers.
- Respond positively and punctually within specified timelines to customer enquiries and requests.
- Develop a training plan for systems and oversee development of user training documentation specific to business processes, delivering (or assist in the delivery of) classroom and one-on-one training for users as required.
What you'll need to succeed
- Relevant qualifications or experience in a related field; and clear ability to undertake the Applications Administrator role. Or demonstrated extended relevant experience in the field at the same technical level as the position that is described in this document.
- Demonstrated experience in application architecture and systems design principles and their relevance in delivering a digital strategy and organisational change.
- Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated, and able to use your initiative and analytical approach to investigate problems and find solutions collaboratively as part of a team.
- The ability to meet deadlines and prioritise tasks. Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team, sound written and oral communication, decision-making, advocacy and negotiation skills.
- The ability to operate at a strategic and tactical level depending on the business needs, be able to manage stakeholders through negotiation and influencing skills and be able to communicate effectively within both business and technical environments.
- Current Victorian Driving licence or equivalent.
