We are on the search for a 1st, 2nd or 3rd year apprentice to join an award-winning venue catering for 80-750 guests for weddings, corporate and special events. We are seeking a hard-working and motivated budding Chef to complete a Certificate III in Commercial Cookery and join this amazing team.
The requirements are:
- Strong work ethic with the ability to work under pressure maintaining high standards
- Passion for food and good understanding of food presentation and cooking techniques.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work as a team is vital.
- Ensure safe food handling procedures (storage and temperature) complying with food safety standards.
- Perform routine kitchen tasks and other kitchen duties as assigned.
- Follow the prep list created to plan duties.
- Label and stock all ingredients on shelves so they can be organised and easily accessible.
- Measure ingredients and seasonings to be used in cooking.
- Prepare cooking ingredients by washing and chopping vegetables, cutting meat, and other meal prep.
- Assists the chef in all the food service operations and day-to-day operations of the kitchen.
- Undertake basic cooking duties, prepare simple dishes, such as salads and entrees.
- Maintain a clean and orderly kitchen by keeping stations clean, washing dishes, sanitising surfaces and taking out garbage.
- Ensure that all food and other items are stored properly.
- Ensure and observe correct OH&S procedures.
- Ensure high level of personal hygiene.
- Flexible schedule, working evenings and on weekends. Days required are Wed – Sunday Hours vary from 38-45 hours per week.
