  • $91,702 - $104,753 + up to 15.4% superannuation
  • Adelaide - SA

The Role
Headquarters 9th Brigade is seeking an APS 6 Business Intelligence Officer; this position supports the Commander to manage the organisation’s allocated resource budget. Allocated resources include cash and non-cash items such as (amongst others) ammunition and reservist salaries. This position also delivers assurance activities for Commonwealth resources in accordance with government legislation and department policy.
This role requires adherence to governance in resource and budget management, as well as reporting within Army and to external stakeholders. Importantly, Army will be commencing the introduction-into-service of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), a Defence-wide transition from numerous reporting and management systems (including finance and resource management platforms) into a single SAP platform, which is being released incrementally from 2024 until 2029. This APS 6 – Business Intelligence Officer position will be central to achieving ERP integration.

About our Team
Located at Keswick Barracks, Headquarters 9th Brigade is a multi-disciplinary, integrated team that provides command and control, operations and planning, training and recruitment functions over a number of Defence capabilities in South Australia.  Headquarters 9th Brigade has a high performing culture and an evolving role in Army and Defence. The successful candidate can expect to be increasingly challenged in the role whilst being supported by an inclusive team and leadership group.

Our Ideal Candidate
We are seeking an individual who is able to plan, manage and coordinate Business Intelligence functions while fostering good working relationships with personnel at all levels across different functional areas.  You will have well-developed communication skills, both written and verbal, and be comfortable collaborating with multiple stakeholders.  You will be required to prepare instructions, reports and presentations, as well as provide advice to commanders and principle staff to support decision-making.  You will be adaptable in meeting the needs of a changeable work environment.  You will embrace the requirement for necessary change, identify improvement opportunities and coordinate directed business and resource policy improvements.

This role will ideally suit a highly motivated and experienced individual with a background in business and resource analysis and management. The ideal candidate will also have experience in technical reporting utilising spreadsheets and data inputs, and have an understanding of contemporary corporate governance/compliance.

As the APS 6 Business Intelligence Officer, you will be able demonstrate the following attributes, skills and experience;

  • Support the Commander and staff to remain aware of the strategic and operational issues that will impact the resources allocated to the organisation.
  • Provide detailed options to resource the organisation’s annual program of activities – options to include choices available to decision makers to manage risk within the organisation’s allocated resource budget.
  • Monitor and assess resource usage against the plan, and update decision makers on emerging risk for future activities. Undertake research and analysis to discover anomalies and trends in data, advising on data quality, using relevant business systems.
  • Experience in the use of financial and resource management systems.
  • Manage multiple adjustments to the resource plan following changes to the activity program during execution.
  • Coordinate with other staff members, Defence auditors, and subordinate units to plan and deliver a program of compliance and assurance activities within the organisation.
  • Provide financial technical support and oversight to other resource managers in subordinate organisations.
  • Experienced in desktop office tools like Microsoft Suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Work as part of a team, communicate effectively with others and build effective relationships.
