Currently, there are around 4.3 million Australians with a disability. The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) implements the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), which is one of the biggest social reforms in the country since Medicare.

As an Agency, we support more than 600,000 participants with a significant and permanent disability, and the families and carers of those living with disability. For many Australians, this will be the first time they receive the disability support they need.

The NDIA is designed to enhance the quality of life and increase economic and social participation for people with disability and will mean a peace of mind for every Australian.

A new role awaits

The People Culture & Wellbeing Division operates in a fast paced and supportive team environment where we foster positive intent and team collaboration. Due to a recent P&C restructure and with anticipated growth, we are seeking enthusiastic, passionate, and confident APS 6 HR Generalists to fill various roles across our 5 Branches.

In these roles, you will provide efficient, quality, and holistic human resource assistance to our stakeholders, and therefore ultimately support our Participants.

We seek to fill ongoing/non-ongoing vacancies with specific vacancy information listed below. You will have the opportunity to nominate your preferred area of interest at application stage, however, this does not exclude you from other HR areas of interest/suitability. Note suitable merit pooled candidates may be offered future roles in other HR teams not listed below.

People Support Team

The People Support Team is seeking interest from HR practitioners with case management experience in performance and behaviour matters.

You will work with managers and employees, providing accurate and timely HR advice in line with relevant legislation and the Agency’s Enterprise Agreement, policies, guides and processes.

Our ideal candidates will be collaborative HR practitioners who thrive in an environment of continuous improvement while demonstrating leadership in their scope.

Performance and Talent

The Talent Program role will provide senior support and manage several talent programs, including entry level programs and strategy, talent management framework and contribute to the design and delivery of the NDIA Graduate Program.

You will report to the Assistant Director of the Talent team, within Performance & Talent, and be supported with four other peers/staff in the Talent team.

Recruitment

Leading a small team of recruitment officers as a Recruitment Team Leader, you will also manage stakeholder expectations and deadlines, provide best business and APS recruitment practice, and continuous improvement.

To meet the Agency’s extensive and voluminous recruitment activity needs, you will bring your business and recruitment acumen to identify and implement quality methods of talent attraction and success.

Workplace Supports

The Rehabilitation Case Manager provides leadership, advice and support in health case management.

This includes injury prevention and claims management, early intervention, rehabilitation, workplace adjustments and support for employees with disability.

You will be familiar with working within a legislative framework (WHS Act 2012, SRC Act 1988, Disability Discrimination 1992 ) and use contemporary, inclusive practice and processes to support employees with illness, injury and disability in the workplace.

Where you can add value

As an APS 6 HR Generalist, you will undertake complex work, with autonomy and limited direction. You may work virtually from some/all of your nationally based colleagues and business partners.

As a leader in your team, your responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Provide analysis, technical and specialist advice in your role, with the ability to effectively troubleshoot and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Demonstrate your confidence and good judgement to make sound decisions using Government Regulations and Directions, legislation, and best business practice.
  • Deliver positive stakeholder management relationships in a collaborative and cooperative manner.
  • Monitor industry changes that may impact your role and business areas to assist in strategic planning.

While this role is ideally performed from the advertised locations, remote working arrangements may be considered. We intend to fill this role in an ongoing capacity, however non-ongoing roles up to 12 months (with possible 12 month extension) may be offered.

Successful candidates will be required to undergo a pre-employment National Police History check, Worker Screening check and/or Working with Children Check (where required) and provide evidence of Australian Citizenship.
