Our participants, Our people, Our purpose

Currently, there are around 4.3 million Australians with a disability. The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) implements the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), which is one of the biggest social reforms in the country since Medicare. As an Agency, we support more than 600,000 participants with a significant and permanent disability, and the families and carers of those living with disability.

For many Australians, this will be the first time they receive the disability support they need. The NDIA is designed to enhance the quality of life and increase economic and social participation for people with disability and will mean a peace of mind for every Australian.

A new role awaits

Seeking a rewarding and challenging new role in Fraud Investigation? The NDIA’s Fraud Investigations branch has multiple positions for APS5 Fraud Investigators to join their teams.

The branch detects and responds to payment fraud against the Scheme, assisting the Fraud Fusion Taskforce in strengthening their fraud detection and response capabilities. The focus of the branch is to prevent, detect and deal with fraud against the Agency, thus protecting the Scheme’s financial sustainability.

Where you can add value
As an APS5 Fraud Investigator you will play a key role in conducting interviews, preparing statements and briefs of evidence, and conducting criminal investigation activities. You will assist with the execution of search warrants, which may require domestic air travel and working extended hours including overnight stays.

Responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:

  • Assisting with the preparation of cases and briefs of evidence for referral to relevant parties such as the Australian Federal Police and Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions.
  • Representing the NDIA and giving evidence in criminal and civil courts.
  • Analysing, processing information and producing accurate and informative reports.
  • Conducting criminal investigation activities in accordance with NDIA processes and the Australian Government Investigation Standards.

Enough about us, let’s talk about you

To be successful in this role, we expect you to have interest and experience in fraud investigation and analysis.  Working within a high performing team, you will possess well-developed communication skills, ability to interpret and apply policy and legislation and professional conduct. Experience with or an understanding of anti-money laundering processes is a plus, but not a requirement.

You will also bring with you a positive and eager attitude, and most importantly you act with integrity and show care for the people you work with.

Your NDIA Experience

We work as one team. We are accepting, diverse and driven. We take a shared approach to making progress. We welcome and support each other and encourage different ideas, insights and opinions. We empower and enable each other to be our best. We collaborate, connect and work together to create a workplace that makes us proud. And while we're based far and wide across the country, we make sure nobody feels they are out on their own.

You will work for a socially inclusive and culturally diverse workplace, that is making a meaningful impact to the lives of more than 500,000 Australians. You will have access to higher superannuation and above market leave entitlements as well as working conditions that support a positive work life balance.

The roles will be performed from Deakin - ACT, Surry Hills – NSW, Brisbane - QLD, Adelaide – SA or Richmond – VIC.  There will be flexibility in relation to work from home on some occasions, but this will be dependent on operational requirements.

We intend to fill this role in an ongoing capacity, however non-ongoing roles up to 12 months with the possibility of extension up to 2 years may be offered.

Successful candidates will be required to undergo a pre-employment National Police History check, Worker Screening check and/or Working with Children Check (where required) and provide evidence of Australian Citizenship. Successful candidates will also have or have the ability to obtain an NV1 Security Clearance.
