The role is offered as non-ongoing for 12 months, with a high possibility of becoming permanent due to its vacant status. It serves as an excellent entry point for individuals currently consulting in the federal government and looking to transition to the client side, or s26 transfer opportunities for existing APS employees. You will work closely with a highly experienced Assistant Director and have the opportunity to learn from the best. This is also a great chance for a high-performing APS5 to advance to APS6. For those looking to transition into the APS, this role offers training and development.
The Role
As an APS5/6 Financial Accountant you will play a key role with responsibilities including:
- Prepare monthly, annual financial statements and other finance reports
- Liaise with team members preparing monthly journals and CBMS entries
- Assist in development and maintenance of policies/ guidelines/ templates and other governance documents
- Assist in implementing system change and other business improvement activities.
- Assist as required in developing procurement advice, guidance and capability across the organisation.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced Accountant with a strong technical financial accounting background, ideally within the Federal Government. They should demonstrate proficiency in Excel and possess well-developed communication skills. Additionally, experience using financial systems such as SAP, TechOne, etc., is highly valued. Tertiary qualifications (or working towards) in commerce, accounting, finance, business, or a related field are highly regarded, as is membership of a professional accounting association (CPA/CAANZ), or progress towards such membership.
