The Opportunity
There is an opportunity at both the APS6 and EL1 levels to join the Corporate Operations Branch and the Audit and Fraud Section. This team drives a range of Corporate Governance functions for the department including the internal audit program, risk, fraud and business continuity activities.
- Be supported by a Director that has worked in the department for 20 years and has a wealth of corporate knowledge
- Opportunity to mature the Corporate Governance function by bedding down standard operating procedures and processes
- Work on interesting upcoming projects such as implementing changes to ensure compliance with the new National Anti-Corruption Commission Act coming into effect on 1st July and revising the contract with the internal audit provider, which is coming up for completion in the coming months
The Role
The responsibilities of the APS6 position include:
- Assist the Director Assurance and Governance to manage the roll out of risk strategy across the department
- Support the management of the Internal Audit program
- Assist in the preparation of reports on assurance and fraud control activities
- Support the implementation of Fraud and Corruption Control Framework and provide guidance on fraud and corruption control and assurance
- Manage the business continuity function and liaise with key stakeholders to ensure the effective functioning of Parliament House
- Manage the Internal Audit program and maintain stakeholder relationships with the outsourced Internal Audit provider
- Monitor and review outstanding audit recommendations and look for opportunities to streamline and improve audit practices, including reporting
- Manage the Fraud Control Plan, ensuring fraud policy, processes, and training are available and up to date
- Coordinate and investigate fraud reporting for executive in accordance with the Australian Government Investigation Standards
- Manage a small team, including the Risk and Business Continuity Manager
- Oversee the Risk and Business Continuity function, including the development, review and improvement of risk and business continuity policies and processes
- Attend meetings of, and provide administrative support to, the Audit and Risk Committee
The ideal people for these roles will have experience in one or more of the following functions; internal audit, risk, fraud, governance and business continuity. It is important that you have experience working in government (either state or federal).
You will also have:
- Excellent coordination, time management, prioritisation and organisational skills
- Highly developed stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to engage with senior officials up to the SES level
- Ability to pick up new systems and processes quickly
- Demonstrate a high level of attention to detail, self-drive and initiative
- Be an Australian citizen
- Have, or be willing to undergo, a Baseline security clearance
- Be willing to undergo a police check
- APS6: $87,994 to $98,899 per annum + 15.4% super
- EL1: $107,083 to $122,263 per annum + 15.4% super
- 12-month non-ongoing contract with view to permanency
- If you are currently a permanent APS employee, you can be engaged on a temporary s26 transfer for 12 months. Non-APS employees will be engaged on a 12-month non-ongoing contract
