About the Opportunity
This role is a 12 month contract based opportunity with a high chance of renewal. A flexible, hybrid work environment ensures a great work-life balance - this is a Geelong based position and requires some time spent in office. This is a full time position open to Australian Citizens only.
About the Role
The position is required to provide detailed technical, professional, policy, operational support and advice in relation to complex problems. Where required, the role will coordinate and assist in the strategic planning, program and project management and policy development that support the Agency’s objectives.
The APS6 Policy Officer will have a considerable level of public contact in relation to complex, difficult or sensitive issues. It is required to liaise with a range of internal and external stakeholders in a representational role on behalf of the branch/division/Agency.
Responsibilities
Some of the requirements of the role include (but are not limited to):

• Interpreting, drafting and reviewing policy and procedural issues with relevant business areas and key stakeholders
• Contributing to the planning and implementation of NDIA policies and objectives
• Drafting reports, briefing papers, agendas, minutes, speeches, Ministerial correspondence and discussion papers
• Conducting research and analysis to inform policy development and support implementation
• Tailoring written and verbal communications for a variety of audiences, providing advice on complex issues.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
