The Team
The Quality Assurance Office (QAO) assures the quality, consistency, and transferability of the highest-level security clearances across the Australian Government and supports the development of Insider Threat capabilities. We run a comprehensive audit and compliance program and actively engage with Australian Government agencies to provide high quality Insider Threat advice and best practice guidance. The branch is small and full of passionate and professional people who work hard to help protect our National Security interests.
Who are we looking for
Enthusiastic and motivated individuals with a demonstrated ability to quickly gain an understanding of new processes and policies. You will work in a small team supporting the uplift of Insider Threat programs within government agencies. Your attention to detail and strong communication skills are the keys to your success in this position.
You are comfortable working in a diverse working environment, and engaging with people ranging from new to senior staff from various backgrounds, generations and personality types.

The key duties of the position include
As a Quality Assurance Office (QAO) Insider Threat Advisor you will contribute to a small team of specialists that develop and maintain contemporary Insider Threat policy advice. The team is responsible for providing Insider Threat policy expertise, and managing stakeholder engagement across the National Intelligence Community and broader government. A key component of the role is supporting the development, delivery and coordination of Insider Threat program training packages.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting the implementation and maintenance of Insider Threat program best practice.
- Providing advice to sponsoring agencies on developing Insider Threat programs in accordance with the relevant policy.
- Liaising with multiple stakeholders - building relationships and obtaining cooperation and assistance to achieve outcomes.
- Supporting the facilitation of Insider Threat training programs.

To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate:
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to establish rapport with diverse stakeholders, including a proven ability to work cooperatively as part of a small team.
- A proven ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, in an accurate, unambiguous manner.
- Proficiency in planning and coordinating with stakeholders, both internally and externally.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver results under tight timeframe, and
- A willingness to develop presentation skills in order to help deliver training to Insider Threat practitioners.
Desirable but not essential:
- Experience in security vetting, personnel security, and/or Insider Threat would be well regarded but not essential.
- Personnel or protective security training or qualification (for example the Certificate IV in Government Security) would be beneficial but is not mandatory as training can be provided.
