Beaumont&Beaumont have been engaged by our client to recruit an APS 6 equivalent level Senior Technical Assessment Officer to work within a major Commonwealth Government Department. The successful candidate would be working with the Road & Vehicle Safety Division, which aims to improve road safety and reduce road trauma for all Australians.
A Senior Technical Assessment Officers will be expected to undertake a range of activities related to the assessment of a variety of application types under the RVS legislation. They work closely with subject matter experts to ensure the required application processes are followed and decisions are communicated to stakeholders in a timely and appropriate manner.
In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Application assessment under the RVS legislation by leveraging technical expertise and knowledge of legislative framework requirements.
- Development of vehicle safety policy, procedures and standards.
- Liaison with stakeholders relating to applications, policy and standards, and the development of responses to written requests for information.
- Providing technical input and advice to other assessors and sections within the branch.
- Contributing to risk-based assurance or review activities, such as audits.
- Analysis and assessment of information from assurance or review activities and drafting recommendations for decision markers.

Demonstrated understanding of government administrative frameworks and decision-making processes, familiarity of RVS legislation, and understanding of mechanical engineering, automotive technology or the automotive industry are highly regarded.
It is a requirement from our client that applicants are Australian Citizens and have to ability to obtain a Baseline Security Clearance. The preferred applicant may be required to undergo a medical examination conduct by the Department’s preferred medical provider.
