The Department of Veterans’ Affairs, Financial Operations Directorate is looking for a Team Leader – Treasury and Accounts Receivable to continue to support changes and improvements in the way we operate. A key change is the implementation of new systems to support a modern and contemporary operating environment, with a new expense management and a new Financial Management Information System being implemented.
The Financial Operations Directorate is responsible for ensuring a high-quality financial environment for the department through robust governance and processes and by providing accurate and timely guidance on financial operational matters. The Directorate delivers accounts payable and receivable, treasury management, financial systems administration, travel and purchase card management.
Duties

• Oversee the Treasury and Accounts Receivable activities.
• Lead, supervise and develop a small team.
• Provide expertise and technical knowledge in Treasury Management and Accounts Receivable.
• Undertake research interpret and apply legislative requirements including Commonwealth financial compliance and legislative frameworks to resolve moderately complex issues.
• Build rapport and maintain internal and external relationships, respond to enquiries, provide assistance and factual advice in a timely manner.
• Manage prioritisation of own workloads and those of team, ensuring work activities are completed to agreed timeframes and standard, undertake quality assurance reviews of information and work, and ensuring quality customer service and advice.
• Utilise financial analysis tools and systems, to capture, research, analyse, problem solve and reconcile data.
• Update and maintain Policies and Procedures relating to Treasury Management and Accounts Receivable and lead process improvement initiatives.
• Preparation and approval of end of month processes including but not limited to:

• reconciliations,
• journals, and
• executive and management reporting.
