Job description

(HE08) $106,561 - $119,550 per annum plus an employer contribution of 17% superannuation applies.

Fixed term contract until 30 June 2028 for an ARDC Skills Development Lead (NCRIS), experienced in Skills Development programs and stakeholder engagements that focus on data capability building.

Working with a degree of autonomy and receiving broad direction, the ARDC Skilled Workforce Development group has a portfolio of activities that focus on developing a national skills agenda targeting key areas of the workforce that underpin and enable data intensive research.

This role will work with fellow research infrastructure facilities, ARDC project partners and stakeholders to grow their capability and skills to foster quality and consistency with respect to research data.

You will support ARDC programs and collaborations by:

  • Identifying skills needs and co-designing skills programs for a suite of . 
  • Working with and supporting National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS) organisations to develop and implement data and skills strategies to increase their data capability, including research data governance and management with a focus on organisation-wide policies related to research data.
  • Working with and supporting digital research training providers to build content in the training registry to aid the discovery of skills training.
  • Consulting with NCRIS, other research infrastructure organisations, institutions and other research performing organisations to aid the further development, use and implementation of the ARDC's Digital Research Capabilities & Skills Framework.

To be successful you will need:

  • Proven project management experience, with an in-depth understanding of the project life cycle and strategic development of project plans, objectives and documentation.
  • Demonstrated experience with identifying and resolving issues and concepts involved with research data management practices, in particular those enabling FAIR data.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of frameworks, policies, processes, procedures and learning or informational resources that form an organisation’s data strategy  (ideally in a research environment).
  • Demonstrated expertise and experience in designing and delivering workshops, training, mentoring, advice and support to stakeholders (ideally on research data governance and management, and other areas of data capability).
  • Proven ability to nurture productive working relationships across a broad spectrum of people, roles and institutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate, consult, negotiate and liaise with stakeholders and colleagues in a team environment.

The successful candidate should have advanced written and verbal communication, interpersonal and presentation skills with sound time management skills.

You should be comfortable managing multiple tasks with the ability to meet competing deadlines by using excellent judgement and initiative.

Experience working with a national scale or local research infrastructure organisation would be highly desirable.
