ASD is seeking highly motivated Systems Engineers from all backgrounds with experience in various forms of ICT Engineering to deliver systems that enable the conduct of intelligence, cyber security and offensive cyber operations in support of the Australian Government and Australian Defence Force (ADF).
ASD is recruiting for ASD4 and ASD5 Systems Engineers. You will be responsible for working across the Systems Engineering process from requirements to design to development to testing, delivery and sustainment. You will work in multi-disciplinary teams delivering systems using technologies from RF and wired communications to networking to computing and software systems. The systems will range from small scale, bespoke solutions to some of the largest scale, complex enterprise systems in Australia.

ASD4 Systems Engineer:
- Accountable under routine direction to perform and achieve moderately complex Systems Engineering work within an integrated workforce.
- Accountable for organising their workflow and seeking advice where required to make decisions relating to their area of responsibility.
- Apply technical engineering knowledge and experience, understand priorities to research, define issues, and suggest corrective actions.
- Undertake technical research and analysis, conduct reviews, assessments and perform procedural or operational support work to achieve results.
ASD5 Systems Engineer:
- Accountable under limited direction to perform and achieve complex Systems Engineering work within an integrated workforce.
- Accountable for organising their workflow and making independent decisions relating to their area of responsibility.
- Accountable for exercising assigned engineering authorities and any Technical Regulatory Authority delegations.
- Apply technical engineering knowledge and experience, understand priorities to research, define issues, and implement corrective actions.
- Assess technical and design packages including scoping, planning, reviewing and provide recommendations for consideration.

Our Ideal Candidate
Our Ideal candidate should possess one or more of the following traits and skills for Systems Engineer:
- Industry experience, formal training or a particular domain expertise
- The ability to design, build and administer systems according to the high standard expected throughout ASD and in accordance to industry protocols
- The ability to tailor your communication style to effectively engage various audiences
- The ability to be work flexibly and both independently and within the team.
- Have the capacity and discipline to build and manage systems in accordance with our high standards.
- Have some experience in producing formal Systems Engineering documentation.
