    About the role:

    A vacancy exists in our Homeless Health Service for a highly experienced and motivated Drug and Alcohol Clinician with appropriate knowledge and skills to join our friendly and supportive team. Our progressive and innovative team provides a caring environment for our staff in their delivery of culturally appropriate, high quality patient centred care. We utilise the principles of trauma informed care and strengths-based practice. We are committed to the continuing professional development of our team members.

    Our Assertive Outreach Team Drug and Alcohol Clinician provides evidence-based specialist healthcare, support and care coordination to people living with complex unmet health and support needs who are experiencing primary homelessness in inner city Sydney. The D&A Clinician provides specialist assessment, treatment, referral and care coordination on an outreach basis, in collaboration with clients, the multidisciplinary team and a range of stakeholders. They aim to address clients' cultural, holistic health and support needs utilising a strengths-based, harm reduction approach. In this context, the successful applicant will assist clients to access mainstream and specialist healthcare and support services of their choice, to improve their health and wellbeing outcomes.

    The position is permanent full time, Monday - Friday. There may be occasional early start times.

    About you:

    We are seeking a skilled, compassionate Drug and Alcohol Clinician who is committed to working alongside alongside people with complex health needs to achieve their goals and improve health and wellbeing. You will need experience coordinating healthcare, and collaborating with a range of partner services, creating multi-agency support networks and care plans while keeping clients at the centre. We welcome applications from people who are trauma informed and strengths-focussed, with a commitment to facilitating access to healthcare for those who experience significant systemic barriers.

    The vacancy is open to Australian citizens, New Zealand citizens who hold a valid New Zealand passport, Australian permanent residents and those non-residents deemed by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship to be eligible to work in Australia only.

    Selection Criteria:

    • Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries and St Vincent's Health Australia.
    • Degree or diploma in related health discipline with at least 3 years post qualification experience and registration with relevant professional body if appropriate.
    • Demonstrated competence, knowledge and experience in providing community-based specialist assessment, treatment and care coordination services to people experiencing substance use and addiction, in addition to comorbid health and support needs.
    • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to issues relating to homelessness, the principles of harm minimsation and trauma-informed care and the utilisation of a strengths-based framework.
    • Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with clients, multidisciplinary team and a range of key stakeholders.
    • Demonstrated commitment to clinical supervision, ongoing professional development and service improvement.
    • Demonstrated effective computer literacy with email and an electronic patient record systems.
    • Current NSW Driver's License.
